My Irish born parents raised my siblings and me just outside of New York city. I like to believe I’ve effectively merged the best of both coasts - my style brings elements of deep listening and direct communication wrapped in a blanket of compassion and hope.

I incorporate a "strength-based approach" to therapy that utilizes your skills, traits and patterns of thought and behavior that are positive and to your benefit. Whatever obstacle or challenge you may be facing; I believe you inherently can address your challenges and lead a content, meaningful life.

“We’re just walking each other home” - Richard Alpert

  • Some people come to therapy with very specific goals. Others come knowing they want something to be different and are seeking support in sorting what the “different” is that they are seeking. Together we determine if we’re the right fit, develop a plan and begin the journey.

  • I bring over 25 years of post‑graduate experience working with individuals and families across a wide range of settings. My professional background includes work as a psychotherapist, medical social worker, grief counselor, and healthcare administrator. This breadth of experience allows me to offer thoughtful, integrative care that is grounded in both clinical expertise and real‑world understanding of complex systems.

I support adults living with depression and anxiety, as well as those navigating life transitions such as career stress or change, family restructuring, and relationship challenges. My work is collaborative and tailored to each individual’s needs, with an emphasis on insight, resilience, and meaningful change.

    Couples Work

I work with couples experiencing distress for a variety of reasons, including communication difficulties, conflict, infidelity, and transitions that strain connection. I also support couples who are seeking guidance and structure as they enter a new phase of their relationship and want to strengthen their foundation moving forward.

    Specialized Expertise

My areas of specialized expertise include:

    • Supporting individuals and families grieving a wide range of losses, with particular focus on child death, perinatal loss, spousal death, infidelity, and divorce

    • Supporting caregivers and individuals managing chronic illness, adjusting to new medical diagnoses, and navigating end‑of‑life decision‑making and care

    • Supporting medical and healthcare professionals, an area of particular importance to me given the increasing strain of staffing shortages, burnout, and moral distress within the medical community

    Personal Perspective

I live in Seattle with my black lab, Shanny B, and my boxer–Great Dane mix, Boon. I previously worked for over a decade alongside a therapy dog and have volunteered in raising future service dogs. Some of my greatest teachers have been the children I supported at the end of life and those who were grieving the death of someone deeply important to them. Their courage and honesty continue to shape both my clinical work and my understanding of what it means to accompany others through profound loss.

  • Once an appointment hour is selected, that session time is yours while in treatment together. I will make every best effort to reschedule a missed appointment that week if available. I require a one week cancellation notice in order to avoid paying for a missed session.
